Calcific
Barbotage in Northampton

DIAGNOSTIC sCAN, uLTRASOUND-GUIDED INJECTION, & A REPORT IN THE SAME APPOINTMENT

What is it and how it works?

If you are diagnosed with a painful shoulder because of calcium deposit in your tendon, then calcific barbotage or dry needling is the appropriate and less invasive procedure to consider. Barbotage is a quick and safe procedure aimed at breaking/removing the calcium deposit from the affected tendon to relieve your symptoms. Calcium deposits in the tendon can be very painful and can restrict your movements significantly. In our Advanced MSK Appointment in Northampton we perform an ultrasound scan initially to locate the calcium deposit in your shoulder tendons, which will be then followed by a barbotage procedure under ultrasound guidance to break/absorb the calcium. The entire procedure of calcific barbotage or dry needling can be done within 15 to 30 minutes approximately and it is a safe procedure. Following the barbotage procedure you can return to normal activity level after a short period of rest as pain allows.
