How it works?

Trigger points or pain caused by “knots” in your muscle is a common condition, which can repeatedly affect your active lifestyle. Trigger points can be caused due to health conditions that can cause muscle fatigue, prolonged bad or static posture, and a busy stressful lifestyle. The application of heat, therapeutic massage, or acupuncture is known to relieve trigger point-induced pain.

Occasionally, the pain level from trigger points in your muscles can be severe and other conservative therapies may fail to reduce your symptoms. In such circumstances, a trigger point injection also known as “muscle blocks” can reduce tension in your muscles and relieve pain.

Yes you can. If you are still unsure and would like to discuss this with our specialist team prior to your booking then email info@radclinics.co.uk for more information or ring 07742986561 for a free telephone consultation with our Musculoskeletal Specialist.

There is no need for complete rest, however, we will advise you to reduce your activity level significantly for a week at the least to obtain the best results from the injection.

You should not drive immediately after the injection. Please organise a pick-up or arrange a taxi to return home.

Your appointment will be a “one stop shop” in which our Musculoskeletal Specialist will carry out a physical examination and ultrasound scanning to diagnose your problem. You will have plenty of opportunity to discuss your care with our specialist prior to proceeding with your injection.

Results obtained from the trigger point injection can last up to few weeks to few months, which will allow you to pace your activity level and condition your muscle to avoid recurrence.

You can have multiple trigger point injections in a year. Our Musculoskeletal Specialist will screen your general health and will make an independent decision every time prior to administrating trigger point injection.

Local anaesthetics are safe during pregnancy. Corticosteroid injection is known to be safe from 2nd trimester of pregnancy. If you are aware of being pregnant at the time of booking then notify us for pre-injection screening. Due to lack of evidence from research, Botox or Botulinum toxin is not recommended during pregnancy.
